Yes it happened to me, account hacked and my lvl 50 cleric stripped. It happened on the official forums when I clicked on a link that did not really link to anything but my new heart ace. After filing an online support claim and talking to customer service, I recieved an automatic reply..."It will take two weeks to be restored do to the heavy volume of hacks". Then after having my account returned to me to play before I was fully restored, I signed on this morning to see I was banned. WTF. I called the customer service and they had no idea what happened but I get to have another ticket filed for another issue. They have no idea when I will get my account back.

Couple of conclusions after being a ten year MMO gamer.

1. NCSoft has serious security issues (like you did not know that)
2. They have no intention or ability of fixing them.
3. They need to hire more people for thier phones and techs to resolve these issues
4. They are loosing tons of players every month due to lack of end game content and uncalled for bans and hacks
5. We are all vunerable if you can get hacked on their official forums (yes when I called they admitted to the issue)

Yes this was/is a great game if only it was not rolled out as a side thought to America. I cannot believe I paid for this game and paid monthly money to be treated the way I have as a customer.

I am not sure if I will ever get my account back with out a tremendous effort on my part. I am not sure I want to spend the man-hours on it. I am devistated.

Thought I would share.

Hello Soflie,

This issue has been escalated all the way up to the Customer Service Manager and has been fully investigated. First let me go over what has happened to this point and what needs to happen from here for this to be fixed.

On February 6th you reported your account as compromised (hacked). At that time we closed your account (for your safety), reset your passwords and returned your account to you that very same day.

Your ticket was then sent to the GM team to have your gear reimbursed. (This is where you were told you may have to wait up to 2 weeks for the reimbursement).

Two days later (February 8th) your official forum account was found flooding the forums with porn links. (http://i915.photobucket.com/albums/a...ornPosting.jpg) Your account was hacked again on Feb 8th! They did this without even changing your password. At this point only one of 2 things could have happened. Either your e-mail is compromised and the hacker has access to it, or your have a Trojan on your computer. Since your password was changed by you on February 6th and it was not access until the 8th, it is most likely a Trojan.

As both the e-mail and phone support have told you, you must use Microsoft Security Essentials to search for the Aion2010.dll Trojan/keylogger before we can re-open your account. We require MS Essentials because we have confirmed that it will detect the Trojan.

After the Trojan is removed you will be able to change your password and it should be secure.

I understand this has been a frustrating experience for you, but I feel that we've handled the situation appropriately.

____________
Link #: http:// |___________|

And those links validate them before making them active... this is of course something called "work" but hey, it's just a constructive idea.
I'd say it's the same reason we didn't totally do away with private stores. We look at the value of leaving these features in verses the benefit of removing them. We've found that in-game phishing is one of the most ineffective methods and have taken great strides to removing these players from Aion before they can trick anyone. There may come a time that we decide it would be better to completely remove the ability to paste links in-game, though, I'd suspect that these individuals will find away around that quickly.
